Description
The use of Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs) to determine field harmonics in rotating coil measurements has been a fixture in the analysis of these measurements since first employed in the mid 1900’s. Instead, by solving matrix-based equations which effectively perform a Fourier Transform while simultaneously including time-based terms, advantages over the simple FFT can be realized and may offer improvements in noise reduction and measurement techniques.
