Description
The proposed PETRA IV electron storage ring that will replace DESY´s flagship synchrotron light source PETRA III will feature a horizontal emittance as low as 20 pm-rad. It is based on a hybrid six-bend achromat lattice. In addition to the storage ring PETRA IV, the Booster Synchrotron DESY IV and the corresponding transfer line will be renewed. Overall about 4000 magnets will be manufactured. The lattice design requires high-gradient quadrupoles, sextupoles and octupoles. The bending magnets for the storage ring will be combined dipole-quadrupole permanent magnets. This contribution gives an overview of the project, the design and testing of the magnets. Characterizing this large number of magnets will require multiple test benches, together with optimized and automated test procedures. We present the magnetic measurement concept and the space proposed for the measurement facility.
